FAQs: Hot Water Softener
A commercial water softener contains ion-exchange resin that exchanges calcium and magnesium hardness ions for sodium ions. This produces softened water that is less likely to form limescale when heated.
Once the resin reaches its calculated treatment capacity, the control valve automatically regenerates it using a brine solution. The hardness minerals are flushed to drain, and the resin is prepared for another service cycle.
