In the UK, commercial dishwasher break tanks are a legal requirement for equipment without an integrated Category 5 ‘AB’ air gap, as defined by the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999. (opens in new tab)

For boosting mains cold water the Autosoft Breaktank BTP is a pumped breaktank with a Class ‘A’ air gap. These are fitted to prevent dirty water siphoning back from the dish/glass washer into the mains water. Class ‘A’ air gaps are a legal requirement on dishwashers fitted in a commercial kitchen.
